Click on the headings in the map below to find out about different parts of the Agritech Park and the facilities it will provide. The site lies next to the A1(M) at Bedale in North Yorkshire. The plan below represents the latest masterplan that we have developed, but it will change over time as we refine the proposals to reflect the latest innovations and opportunities for agritech

What is Aiskew Agritech Park?

Aiskew Agritech Park is an innovative scheme to provide flexible spaces for the UK’s emerging Agritech sector. Most of the buildings on the site will be innovative and high-tech production facilities where plant-based technologies will produce food, plant based materials and other plant and protein based businesses

Agritechnology allows plant based materials to be optimised to be used in a wide range of food and non-food applications

Why do we need it?

The UK faces a challenge in terms of food supply. The global networks we have relied on are becoming less and less secure, and so it makes sense to try to meet more of our needs on our own shores.

How will Aiskew Agritech Park help?

The Park will provide a comprehensive location where this important industry can come together and find a home. By co-locating, occupiers can take advantage of the economies of scale of large facilities – suppliers, distribution and reliable energy supplies bring benefits that make growing here reliable and viable.

It’s work in progress…

Our research and development is still underway – the scheme isn’t fixed yet. We want to work with the authorities, experts, the industry and the community to formulate a flexible proposal that meets the challenges of food security and resilience of supply. The plan is to have something we all agree will bring the widest possible range of benefits.

Our first step was to present our ideas to North Yorkshire Council, which we did in September 2023. Following that, we have been talking with the ”future food” industry, further and higher education and other key stakeholders as part of the journey towards gaining approval for the project. We hope this might be the start of a collaborative journey to transform the way that agriculture is thought about in North Yorkshire.

Please let us know what you think of the ideas we have set out.
